Recreating diversity in coral reef restoration requires expertise in cultivating vast variety of coral species. While most coral restoration program concentrates only on hard (hermatypic) particularly branching staghorn corals, the Ocean Quest designed propagation system explores beyond this. Understanding that coral reef habitats are diverse, the system allows for creative restoration of all these eco-systems. Having this technology in hand allow us to focus on a variety of sites where many species of corals lived. These includes flat reefs, fringing reefs, walls and deeper reefs. Therefore, we designed simple methods of cultivating hard corals, soft corals, sea fans and sea whips using only materials found in the ocean.
