The “Complete Guide to Coral Reef Rehabilitation” is a book designed for anyone with interest in coral reef restoration. First, it is not a coral biology book, however, the concept and strategy of the book are inclined in opening a new discipline other than the discipline of coral taxonomy. The book does not guide you in coral taxonomy like most coral publication is inclined to do. Instead, this book is a book that will guide you towards coral reef restoration in the most efficient, cost-effective and organic way. As a guidebook, it will point you in the direction of how a coral restoration can be done without the use of artificial or man-made materials. It will also guide you towards a non-abusive conservation approach. In this book, there are strict protocols for the protection of the environment and ecosystems. By following its guide, you will be opened to a new and better understanding between true coral conservation and the abusive ones. This is also not an instructional manual with step by step instructions on how to propagate corals. That knowledge and skills can only be acquired through proper training. Therefore, to best benefit from the content of this book, you must enroll and complete the coral propagation course and the coral reef rehabilitation course by Ocean Quest Global. As a guidebook, it opened a new path for science, especially in coral reef restoration. This means that coral reef restoration ideology that has become stagnant at the stage of finding the method and technique to propagate corals can now progress to a new dimension. There is a lot more than just the method of propagating corals. The system described in this book is condensed information from many coral nurseries in Southeast Asia. It involves coral nursery management and monitoring, environmental and ecosystem protection policy, planting strategy, transplantation, threats and countermeasures, and disaster management for coral reefs. This guidebook is a result of forty years of diving, researching and experimenting that has created tangible results through physical modeling. It can be seen in the images and photographs contained here. The broad spectrum of the book covers everything you need to know about coral reef rehabilitation. Best of all, it teaches you coral restoration and it is not artificial.
