Koh Lanta, Thailand

Koh Lanta is a hidden gem of Southern Thailand as it has yet to be over-commercialized, yet the island still has plenty to offer. Lanta is a European holiday hotspot, with many Swedes living on the island. It’s known as the gypsy-island for remaining much more relaxed than other nearby islands. Lanta contains endless shorelines of tan sand and aqua water, almost completely unoccupied and left in its natural state making Lanta quite unique amongst the other much more touristy islands of Thailand and certainly tops the list of best islands.

Pimalay Resort

Giving something back to the local community

There are many bars and restaurants to choose from—reggae beach bars such as Why Not Bar to luxury wedding venues, such at beach resorts. Accommodation on Koh Lanta starts from basic rooms and bungalows to all-inclusive resorts, such as Pimalai Resort, which was kind enough to host Ocean Quest’s very first Coral Propagation Demonstration in 2016. Since the first sponsorship, Pimalai has dedicated their annual community project in March to Coral Propagation, where the resort will host SSD events, and provide accommodation for Instructors and Trainers. Pimalai’s interest in giving back to its local community and the ocean is an enormous blessing for SSD & Ocean Quest and we look forward to working with them in the future each coming year.

Pimalai Resort is the largest 5-star beach resort on Koh Lanta, offering a standard of seclusion and intention like that of no other. The goal of the resort was to create a luxury resort that “complements, not competes with the original environment.” Their dedication to the environment and their guests is exceptional, and quite the contrast to other resorts in the industry. Pimalai has its own Spa, Dive Centre, three-levels of restaurants, and breathtaking views with which none can compete. If pampering and extravagence are your style, you must have a stay at this wonderful resort.
